经过多年的教学实践,中国佛学院研究部园慈法师根据教学的需要对全书进行改编,每单元基本上由相对完整的原著独立章节组成,为了平衡各教学单元,也适当合并和拆分了部分章节,使之更加符合教材的要求。园慈主编的《佛言(初级中国佛学院英文教材)》全书分为15个单元,其后加附录。每个单元包括课文、英汉单词对照、语法要点、思考题。附录部分包括巴利文、英文、中文对照表和课文的中文翻译,这样更加方便学习。
