  作者吴柏祥选择《纽约时报》和《光明日报》所报道的美国、中国和世界英雄作为研究的对象,来探讨这些动态的、复杂的跨文化身份建构的问题。《纽约时报与光明日报英雄报道与跨文化身份认同的建构》收集了这两份报纸2010和2011年100篇关于77位美国、中国和世界英雄的新闻报道作为分析语料并提取了相关数据。其中有58位是两份报纸所报道的美国和中国的英雄,19位是世界英雄。本研究通过对这些媒体英雄报道的分析、对比,揭示了《纽约时报》和《光明日报》地方英雄和跨文化英雄身份的建构模式。
